I have considered whether or not I should write a personal post here. But I think it is the right thing to do, because I am all about being mindfully productive, which means that there are times when you just don’t have the energy to be as productive and get as much done as you want to.
For the last year I have tried to figure things out around my content. During the summer I tried doing sports content, then I did some analog content. The main problem has been that I have struggled with AI. I have been creating productivity app reviews for a long time, but with the rise of AI I kind of lost my love and enjoyment of using the apps. Maybe because AI promised me that I would not have a job in the future. There is also a lot of doomerism around AI, so I was tired. The other thing was that people started talking about why we no longer need SaaS apps. There were a lot of things going on with AI. I was just tired of it, so I moved back to notebooks. I found that I prefer notebooks. Then I went back to talking about apps. I still use some productivity apps for my actual productivity, but I mostly play around with them as a hobby, using them for my workflows for a week or two before moving on to the next one. This is a great way of using apps for me because I need to use a lot of apps in order to review them properly. So I went back to my productivity app channel, but I also continued my analog channel.
All this to say, I have been all over the place. From December 1st I will also no longer have a job, and I have mixed feelings about it. I am stressed about not having a job, but I am also excited about being able to focus on my content and maybe start a business while I look for a job. I am excited and a little scared, but I think I am mostly excited. I am a big believer that things will end up well, even if it is stressful right now.
I am currently working on doing more freelance work. I am working on my offerings. I considered doing paid testing of apps, because a lot of people reach out to see if I can test out their app and give them feedback, and some of them are also willing to pay. I also considered doing marketing for SaaS productivity apps, but the problem is that it feels weird to get paid by apps and review apps. So, in other words, I am looking for a different freelance idea. Maybe I should try automation and AI courses for businesses. I have said it many times: I am not against AI, but I hate the way it is marketed. There are many opportunities here.
I am also planning to launch, or soft launch, a paid membership/community. I know a lot of people struggle with keeping up with their productivity system. They sacrifice the important reflection parts of the system and end up just adding more and more to it, until suddenly they have more tasks than they could ever do. It might just be me, and a community might not be the right way to solve this problem, but I will use the soft launch to figure that out. I was planning to wait until the new year, but because of the job situation I decided to move it earlier. Based on the soft launch, I can decide how much time I want to spend on it, but things are unclear for now. If you want to check out the community, I will leave a link to the waitlist here.
All this to say that I have not posted a lot lately. I have no clue what I am currently doing, and therefore it is a little slow on the content side, but I am turning it up. Hopefully, over the next couple of months, the content machine will be back at the level it was a year ago and during June this year, so stay tuned for that. Hopefully there will be a few more personal updates and a lot more productivity updates. I just wanted to mention this to say that it is okay to take breaks, it is okay to not have things figured out, and it is okay to have slower periods in your life. There will be periods like that, and that is okay.
